On the back of the successful Buy a Bale campaign, Rural Aid is launching this specific fundraising campaign to help flood affected farmers in North West Queensland rebuild their herd numbers.
500,000 cattle lost is a massive hit to the industry. Many of these family farming operations have lost their core breeders which will take them years to replace.
After being in drought and feeding these animals for 7 years, to see them just wash away or die from cold or disease, these farmers need all the help they can get. After we trucked in 56 trailers of emergency fodder, and worked with helicopter crews to fly it to stranded animals, we’ve then followed up with financial assistance, now it’s time to give these farmers a boost with rebuilding their herd numbers.
Many farmers will have NO income for at least 12 or 18 months, maybe longer. This campaign is practical support.
We’re hoping to raise $15000 to give to each of the farming families affected by this massive natural disaster. That’s a total of $7.5million dollars we’re hoping to raise. At $15,000 per farmer, that could be 15 new cattle at $1000 each or 30 at $500 each. We’ll work with each producer and cattle yards to get them the best price and animal to suit their needs.
Every little bit you can give will help us provide these families with assistance. $20, $50, $500 , it will all add up.
Thank you Australia for your practical support. Donate here
