Will my information be made publicly available?
No your information is 100% private
Can we be picked up from the airport, train station etc?
If a driver or cab or uber can be organised for you then it will be and you will be advised well in advance. If you can give us more than 48 hrs then the chances go up considerably.
Is there a cost for provided accommodation for myself or other family members?
No Rural Aid will either source a room for you with one of our supporters or we’ll cover the cost of your accommodation through donations and sponsorship.
Is there a cost for providing transportation for myself or other family members?

Are meals provided?
No meals are not covered by this program. Some individual property owners may offer that on a personal basis but it is not pre-organised.
Can we be taxied to and from destinations at any time of the day or night?
We will do our best to find a volunteer, or if needed an uber or taxi, to meet your needs. However the time of day and other factors may make this impossible.
How do I make a change to my reservation?
You will be contacted via sms with our direct number and if changes need to be made you can organise that individually with our team when they are in contact with you
What do we do if we have a problem with our accommodation?

What if we find the people unsuitable to stay in our home?
Contact our support team on the mobile 0412448333 and they take care of that for you.
Do we require a police check, and at whose cost?
Yes and we recommend you enquire through Veritas for $23 for a volunteer check. www.veritascheck.com.au
How often might my offered room be required?
Due to the unexpected nature of emergency healthcare, we really have no way of knowing in advance how often a room might be required. We will endeavour to spread the load between all of our generous hosts, so that no one person is unduly burdened.
What does ‘short notice’ mean?
Here at Rural Aid we understand that many of our hosts have significant commitments outside of our program. As a result we will ensure that our hosts have a minimum of three hours notice prior to the arrival of a rural family.

Do I need a National Police Check to volunteer for BEAP?
Yes you do.
If you don’t currently have one, you can apply here.
Can I choose which jobs to take?
Of course! You are free to choose the jobs which suit your availability and areas of expertise.
How long is each job?
Positions are generally 6 weeks long.
This is because the cost of travel across these vast distances is very high.
Jobs of less than 6 weeks may be considered if there is more than one family needing assistance in an area.
There is a job available, but there it isn’t within my teaching area. Should I apply anyway?
The purpose of this program is to match up volunteers with children and families in a way that gets the best outcomes for everyone.
Applying for a position which doesn’t fit within your experience can make this much more difficult.
Do I write the curriculum?
No. You will be supervising the assignments sent out by the Distance Education school, or assignments set by the parents in the case of home schooling.
There will normally be plenty of time for other fun, educational, activities.
If I want to bring my partner, what do they need to do?
If your partner will be travelling with you, they will need their own working with children and national police checks.

We are able to reimburse some travel costs, however please contact us to negotiate an appropriate amount for the trip required.
