In the 4 years since we started the Buy a Bale program and now Rural Aid, I’ve not come across a job I feel so impassioned about.
I first met these cattle farmers, 3 years ago – they were one of the first recipients of Australian generosity through Buy a Bale. This house has been the only home they’ve known.
Running this charity, we get paid in the Thanks we receive for changing people’s lives. Last month we did it for Judy in Mitchell and her two daughters with a new bathroom, bedrooms and a remodelled kitchen. You can see the effect we had there through this video.
This month, we’d like to have your support to remodel an original farm house to put this couple under a roof and between walls that aren’t riddled with termites.
Today their house is irreparable. The cost to replace the frame is prohibitive so the decision has been made to gut and rebuild the original farmhouse on the property. It’s a huge job but will change their lives forever.
Through the assistance of 11 amazing volunteers whom we will feed and look after for a week, we hope to gyprock the whole house including all walls and ceilings, rewire and install a new meterbox, install a new kitchen, plumb the kitchen and bathroom and laundry, install a toilet and shower and vanity unit and install a reverse cycle air conditioner / heater and paint the internal walls, all in 5 days.
Just like we did with the Mitchell job, we’ll purchase as many materials through local businesses. We’re also employing a local contractor to complete some of the jobs.

Thanks to these companies for helping out on this project.
The week was an outstanding success. Our team, of volunteers made an enormous effort as can be seen from the photos. Thank you to all who donated, supplied materials and worked on the job.
